Banchory 2s enjoyed their first comfortable win of the season as opening bowlers Matthews and Robson both made the honours board

Banchory 2nd XI 116 all out (36.1 overs): Redpath 37, J Scotting 22; Kharati 4-6, Burnett 2-25
Dunecht 39 all out (10. 3overs): Baldry 10; Robson 5-14, Matthews 5-19

Banchory 2nd XI won by 77 runs

For the second week in a row Redpath lost the toss and for the second week in a row Banchory would win. Dunecht elected to bowl, a reasonable decision given Redpath and J Scotting's two prior opening partnerships this season were 0 and 6, but it was to be a different story in the Burnett Park sunshine.

Scotting was dropped early on and Redpath (37) had a streaky edge squeak past the keeper - but after that it was 15 overs of sensible batting as the pair put on 56 for the first wicket.

There was a polite ripple of applause from the sideline as the score edged past the 43 all out posted on that dark wintery day at Crathie. Redpath asked for drinks at the 15th over and this inevitably brought a wicket, Scotting edging behind for a fine 22, which included a number of fine drives.

From there it was a mish-mash of contributions as Banchory scrapped and fought to post 116. A Shakir (10) and M Scotting (10) the only other batters to reach double-figures. Kharati, bowling at the tail, picked up some lovely figures of 4-6.

116 would prove to be more than enough as opening bowlers Robson (5-14) and Matthews (5-19) skittled the opposition out for just 39.

Robson's speedy left arm in-swing was unplayable at times while Matthews flighty away swing, described by Carl Counsell earlier in the season as 'no-pace' bowling, had the batters swiping at thin air. There were some fine catches and committed fielding in a hectic period of 10.3 overs which ended with an in-swinging Robson boomerang knocking out leg-stump.

The 2s are now positive in the win column and pushing for a top-half finish. Next week we travel to Counteswells to take on 3rd Gordonians
